Wondershare Filmora Review 2018 Wondershare Software Co., Ltd. Is an emerging software developer that is dedicated to satisfying customers by offering affordable alternatives to mainstream software. Established in 2003 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, the company continued to extend its global reach; apart from China, it currently has presences in the US, Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong. Among its diversified list of consumer software products is Wondershare Filmora, the latest iteration of the original desktop Wondershare Video Editor that allows you to create movies in the easiest ways. Pros • Simple Interface and Intuitive Features - Built-in tutorials combined with a simple approach help even the most uninitiated of beginners get the hand of video editing in just minutes.
• Adequate File Format Support - Work with over 25 video file types, over 20 audio file types, and 10 still image file types--using either a Windows or Mac system. • Social Media Sharing Integration - You can easily share videos on Facebook, Youtube or Vimeo; and even export videos as.WEBM or.GIF files for easy posting as reactions in forums and platforms such as Reddit and Twitter. • Free Trial - Wondershare Filmora offers a fully functional free trial you can use as long as you want--its only real limitation is a watermark on the videos you export and share.
• Price Is Affordable - Upgrade to a one year license for $39.99 or a lifetime license for only $59.99. Cons • Limited Tools and Effects - You can make an attractive commercial or web show for your family and friends; but if you're looking to be a video editing professional, this program isn't going to cut it. • Limited Mobile App Support - FilmoraGo is available for Android and iOS; however, it does not seem to be a free companion app that adds on-the-go and cross-platform functionalities for Wondershare Filmora, but rather a complete mobile version with separate tools and effects sold as in-app purchases (IAPs).
System Requirements Wondershare Filmora is relatively lightweight compared to other video editing programs; especially professional grade, industry standards like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro and VEGAS Pro. This means that Filmora’s minimum requirements are easier to meet, as well. Here’s a brief rundown of what you’ll need: • A supported OS • Windows 7, 8 or 10 • OS X 10.9 or later • 2 GHz Intel/AMD processor • 2GB of RAM Because this program is somewhat new to the industry, there’s not a lot of clamor for backwards compatibility.
However, Wondershare does offer a download link of previous versions of the program–for Mac users using an older OS that may not be able to support Filmora’s current iteration. As with most video editing programs today, a 64-bit OS is recommended; and exceeding the minimum processor and RAM requirements is never a bad thing. You do need to at least 8GB of RAM if you want to use Filmora to edit in HD and 4K. Tools and Features Although Wondershare Filmora does come with advanced features–like Picture in Picture (PIP), split screen, green screen superimposing, and a handful of customizable effects–it’s important to note that it’s not the kind of program you should build a professional portfolio with. At best, it’s for serious hobbyists and finicky home movie makers–or for businesses and personalities needing video editing programs for secondary purposes (such as quick and small ad campaigns or short video announcements). The basic video and photo editing tools included in the program allow you to trim, merge, crop, rotate; and control hue, brightness, saturation, contrast, aspect ratio, and speed (0.2X-5.0X). Basic audio editing tools allow you to trim, split, fade in, fade out; control volume and speed (0.5X-2.0X); and add voiceovers.
