This file system is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems, but does not allow for individual files of 4GB or larger to be stored on the device. To store single files 4GB and larger on a flash drive, the flash drive must be formatted as NTFS in Windows or Mac OS Extended in Mac OS X. These formats eliminate the 4GB file limitation, but the flash drive then becomes only Windows compatible (NTFS) or Mac compatible (Mac OS Extended) unless formatted back to FAT32.
